This was a service-learning project in partnership with Care Corner Student Care Centre. Each group were to plan and execute 3 sessions with groups 6 children to them some important life skills. My group was in charge of 6 primary 3 students from the Woodlands branch, and the goal of our programme was to teach them about impulse control so as to enable them to avoid distractions and focus better when doing work. In the first session, we acted out 2 skits about students in dilemma after presented with a distraction when studying (i.e. friend calls to play and playful kicking), using the devil and angel to show the thought processes and consequence of each choice to teach them the importance of impulse control. In the second session, students had to go through an obstacle course while facilitators distract them from the side, letting them apply ways to focus taught at the start of the session. For the last session, students were given scenarios for roleplay to demonstrate management of distractions from the planted distractor.
